MENETES VILLAGE - KARPATHOS

Menetes are built amphitheatrically on a hill with the church of the "Kimisis tis Theotokou" standing out at the edge of the settlement. The road splits the village in two parts!

Menetes is the birth place to most Karpathian musicians - the locals are know for their talent in poetry and music. Menetes have 475 inhabitants and they are 8 kms SW from Pigadia town.

Menetes and Othos were built after the destruction by the pirates of the Byzantine city of Thaetho, by the city's remaining inhabitants. The houses here are beautiful and taken care of with lots of flowers.
